Stowe Elementary 

Stowe Elementary is looking for Drake students to volunteer in an ongoing capacity to have lunch, read to, and play games with students. This opportunity is open any day of the week and students can come visit between 10:30am to 12:30pm when elementary students are having recess, eating lunch, and having Quiet Time. Students interested in volunteering can contact Will Montgomery (willie.montgomery@drake.edu).
Nursery Volunteers Needed

This ongoing opportunity runs weekly from Monday to Thursday from 9:30am to 11:00am at First Christian Church and is in need of volunteers to spend time with children and play games. Interested students can contact Suzzane Stout.
Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge

Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge is looking to recruit new volunteers and board members. Any students interested in becoming involved can email nealsmith@fws.gov or call the Volunteer Coordinator at 515-994-3400.
Coffee and Conversations

This ongoing opportunity is available November 14 and 28, as well as December 12 from 9:00am to 9:30am at First Christian Church. The opportunity simply consists of engaging in conversation with the community for a short time over coffee. Interested students can contact Suzzane Stout.
Animal Lifeline of Iowa

This ongoing opportunity needs volunteers interested in animals and animal care. Volunteer shifts are Monday - Saturday, 1:00 - 5:00 PM at 4521 SE 14th St, Des Moines, IA 50320. Volunteers interested can find more information or apply at the link below.

Become a Drake College Positive Volunteer

Through various activities, CPVs will build college-going culture and increase college knowledge around college preparation, paying for college, career selection, financial resources, etc. CPVS may oversee a scavenger hunt on campus with middle school students, lead a workshop on scholarship essay writing for high school students, or visit schools to talk about what life in college is all about. This opportunity is great for education majors or any student interested in working with youth.
